The Norwell Police are going to conduct our first RAD program on October 15, 17, 22 and 24 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The location will be at the Town Hall (old gym). RAD was founded in 1989 by a former U.S. Marine and Campus Police Officer. The course is taught at over one thousand Colleges, Universities and Police Departments nationwide. Over 250,000 women nationwide have taken this course. RAD is a program of realistic self defense tactics and techniques for woman.
This course is taught over four (4) nights, three (3) hours per night. There is no cost for this program. The first part of class focuses on lectures where you will be given a workbook/reference material which outlines the entire program. The second part is devoted to confrontation options in various types of situations and how and why to make a decision to resist or not. The last section continues with dynamic simulations. This is the practical part where instructors will wear a specially designed "RAD aggressor suit" and pose as an attacker and students apply what they have learned during previous classes. The suit enables the student to apply full power to defend against the attack. It also gives the woman a chance to see themselves as being effective in a confrontational situation. The Norwell Police Department’s three Officers that are RAD Certified are: Officer Robert Meagher, Officer Ronald Fries and Officer John McDevitt; for more information or to sign up please contact those officers at 1-781-659-7979 or sign up below. The class is free of charge and you can attend classes again in the future.
